One of our homeschool basketball alumni came back to run the boys’ program about ten years ago. He has been the men’s varsity basketball coach for the past few years, but has recently stepped down from this position. He’s still running his summer basketball academy, though. Esteban joined last year for the first time, and has improved quite a bit since then. It’s a hot week—in an non air conditioned gym—where the boys are dribbling with both hands, working on alternating speeds, eyes closed, turning in circles, and walking forward and backward.
That’s just one of the warm ups. They also work on passing and shooting drills, and finally scrimmages. It’s not like anyone loves the camp; they’re just glad they did it.
